Biography

Stephen Watson is a businessman and entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of CTN Group, one of the UK's leading corporate communications agencies. He is active in politics and has been a Conservative Parliamentary Candidate. He is Chairman of the British-German Association and a trustee of Tusk Trust, the African wildlife charity.

Career Background

Stephen was born in 1966 and is married to Emma. He was educated at the European School in Brussels, Kingswood School in Bath and studied History & Politics at London University. His career has been in media and communications. He worked at the BBC on 'Breakfast Time' and subsequently established 'Corporate Vision', an agency specialising in media and presentation training. He is a former managing director of the PR consultancy, Burson-Marsteller, and was responsible for the company's creative services across Europe.

In 1992 he established CTN, as a joint venture company with ITN News. It is now privately owned and one of the UK's top strategic communications agencies. Clients include many of Britain's leading companies, including Unilever and Tesco. Stephen also works extensively with government and is a consultant to the Ministry of Defence and Royal Navy on their communications needs.

Politics

Stephen has had an active interest in politics since university. He has been a member of the executive of the Kensington & Chelsea Conservative Association and has been closely involved in ward campaigning.

In 2005, Stephen was the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Caerphilly in South Wales. He achieved one of the highest Conservative swings in Wales and increased the Conservative vote by 30 per cent.

Stephen's company has also been closely involved in the design and production of the Conservative Party Political Broadcasts and in the staging of the party conferences. Stephen was also part of the David Cameron election campaign and produced David's campaign video and webcasts.

Voluntary

Stephen is active in the voluntary sector. He is a trustee of the African Wildlife Conservation Charity, Tusk Trust, of which HRH Prince William is Patron.

Stephen is the elected Chairman of the British-German Association, fostering links and creating understanding between Britain and Germany.

Personal

Stephen is married to Emma and they live in London and Lower Brailes, near Banbury. They have two young children, Casper and Cecilia. They enjoy the countryside and are keen riders. Stephen is an enthusiastic but unremarkable skier. He enjoys biography and history. Stephen is a member of Brooks's and the RAC.
